Dr. Olufunso Somorin

Dr. Olufunso Somorin is the Regional Principal Officer at the African Development Bank, leading climate change and green growth initiatives across 13 East African countries. With over a decade of experience, he has contributed to over 250 development projects worth more than $20 billion, focusing on climate resilience, sustainable finance, and inclusive development. He holds a PhD in International Environmental Policy from Wageningen University and has completed executive programs at Cambridge, Oxford, and UC Berkeley. Dr. Somorin is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Africa Policy Research Institute and a member of the UN Secretary-General’s Expert Group on Net Zero Policy. A recipient of the Eisenhower Fellowship, he is also a visiting lecturer at several global institutions. His work is at the forefront of integrating climate policy into Africa’s development agenda, promoting transformative solutions for a sustainable and climate-resilient future.
